CAIRO – 6 November 2017 — Egyptian striker Amr Marey hopes to prove his abilities to Egypt national team manager Hector Cuper and earn a place on Egypt’s squad in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
“I am in a challenge to prove myself to Cuper and the coaching staff; I hope to continue with the national team till the World Cup,” Marey told ON Sport on Monday.
Marey, 25, won his first call to Egypt’s first team after his amazing performance with his team, Etoile Du Sahel in the CAF Champions League.
Marey added, “I felt a great difference when I wore Egypt’s national team shirt. I hope to keep on wearing this shirt.”
Marey hopes to participate in Egypt’s upcoming game against Ghana on Sunday, November 12 in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers in Ghana.
Egypt qualified to the 2018 World Cup in Russia after 28 years of absence, as Egypt last played in the World Cup in 1990 in Italy.
