Egypt’s Meteorological Authority (EMA) says that a sandstorm that hit the country will continue throughout the day.
The EMA said that the dusty winds and chilly weather will continue in the Nile Delta, Cairo, Upper Egypt, and Sinai.
The sandstorm has turned the air yellow throughout Cairo, greatly reducing visibility.
In a statement, the Red Sea Port Authority said it closed the ports of Suez and Zeitiyat at 2pm on Wednesday due to strong winds and three to four-metre high waves.
During the past week, several ports on the Mediterranean and the Red Sea were shut down temporarily due to powerful winds and dust.
The weather has also impeded air navigation, leading to a delayed take-off of five international flights for over an hour.
The EMA predicts that the weather will improve tomorrow, with the wind to settle down nationwide and rainfall expected in several areas in the country.
