CAIRO – Wrestling star and Hollywood actor John Cena is set to visit Cairo on November 1 to participate in an Egyptian film named “El Tagroba el Mexicia” (The Mexican Experience).
“ El Tagroba el Mexicia” is produced by Hussain Al Qolla and written by Mahmoud Hemdan and Mohamed Mehrez.
John Cena will appear in the movie with his real identity as a wrestler.
“El Tagroba el Mexicia” revolves around a special Mexican experience that will be a surprise for the audience .
It is expected that another wrestler will perform in the film alongside Cena, but that decision is yet to be decided.
Furthermore, the film writer Mahmoud Hemdan announced that the film will be a blend of comedy and action, and that almost 60% of the scenes will be filmed in Mexico, while 40% will be filmed in Egypt.
The producer further revealed that all scenes related to Cena will be filmed locally.
Hemdan further stated that contacting the famed wrestler was not an easy task.
Eventually, a person close to the wrester was contacted and managed to convince Cina to participate in the anticipated film.
According to Hemdan, Cena insisted on a humongous price, which is equivalent to the budget of two local movies.
Hemdan also reveals that Egyptian media wrote that the star demanded $300,000 for his role in the film; however, the truth is that the number demanded by the wrestler was greater.
According to Hemdan, the reasons for hiring a global wrestler in the film, is because that there is a desire to market the “Mexican experience” on a global level, which of course requires the existence of a world-renowned star.
The nature and events of the film require a foreign wrestler, and the production company could not find a wrester more suitable for the role than Cena.
