Egypt, Norway Hold 1st Session of Political Consultations


The first session of political consultations between Egypt and Norway was held on Friday at the level of assistant foreign ministers at the Foreign Ministry’s headquarters.

Egypt’s delegation was chaired by Ambassador Ehab Nasr, Assistant Foreign Minister for European affairs, while the Norwegian delegation was headed by the director general of regional affairs department at Norway’s Foreign Ministry’s. A host of respective officials from both ministries also attended the consultations.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday that the consultations reviewed means to boost political cooperation and cement bilateral ties ahead of the Egyptian foreign minister’s visit to Oslo.

Both sides lauded efforts exerted to promote Norwegian investments in Egypt, particularly in the field of clean energy.

They also discussed regional and international issues of common interest, including files related to human rights, the Ethiopian Dam and the results of the United Nations climate change conference (COP27), recently hosted by Egypt, among others.
