Cairo University President Dr. Mohamed Othman el-khosht received, in his office, Lu Chunsheng, the Chinese educational advisor, to discuss strengthening joint cooperation between Cairo University and Chinese universities in various research and educational fields.
The meeting was attended by the President of the Chinese Student Association in Egypt, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Center, and Dr. Rehab Sobhi is Director of the Confucius Center and Head of the Chinese Language Department at the Faculty of Arts.
During the meeting, Cairo University President Mohamed el-Khosht confirmed that the areas of cooperation with the Chinese side have reached a large extent. Among the most prominent of these are: the establishment and opening of the new Confucius Model Institute, the expansion of Chinese language courses, the holding of joint degrees for several programs, and the technical and training presence of Cairo University in the project of teaching the Chinese language in schools.
In January, the Cairo University Council approved on the cooperation with Jilin University of China to create a dual bachelor’s degree for teaching Arabic to Chinese students.
The President of Cairo University welcomed holding joint degrees with Chinese universities in multiple fields of study such as: cyber security, artificial intelligence, engineering, and other fields.
For his part, the Chinese educational advisor said that Cairo University is one of the most famous universities in the Arab world, and is the cradle of Egyptian education for graduating scholars and writers, expressing his appreciation for the contributions of the university and its graduates to the international community.
The Chinese educational advisor reviewed the exchanges between Cairo University and Chinese universities, indicating that they have achieved continuous fruits, expressing his appreciation for this cooperation and the resulting achievements.
He praised the great efforts and support made by Cairo University in teaching the Chinese language in Egyptian schools, pointing out that due to the high status of Cairo University, it remained the most important choice for Chinese students who wish to complete their postgraduate studies in the Middle East.
