Egypt Condemns Deadly Israeli Raids on Occupied Palestinian Territories

Egypt condemned on Wednesday the deadly Israeli raids on occupied Palestinian territories, the latest of which was in the Jenin refugee camp in northern West Bank.

In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said that “such attacks against the Palestinian people and their properties violate the rules of international law and Israel’s obligations as the occupying force.”

In the past 24 hours, six Palestinians were killed and some 30 others wounded in an Israeli raid in the West Bank and the border clashes in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian health officials said Wednesday.

Egypt, which signed a peace treaty with Israel in 1979, warned that the Israeli attacks “undermine international and regional efforts aimed at reviving the Palestinian peace process based on the two-state solution.”

Cairo called on the international community to take immediate action to curb the Israeli escalation of the conflict, stressing its firm commitment to supporting Palestinian rights, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
